Area Police
Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Police say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials say initial examinations show the fluid was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the public for tips.
A senior representative commented the incident made him stunned and required to be resolved promptly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist attack five years ago," he stated on online, recalling the killing of nine victims by a shooter targeting residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
